Our First Discovery

Every second Wednesday afternoon, Ruahine and Kapua teams get the opportunity to develop our 'Whakarongo Kid' characteristics and explore our creative sides further during 'Discovery Time'.   One activity in Room 7 was to use a variety of materials to create.  We formed our own personal characters and used them to create mini-plays and stories.

At the end of Discovery Time, we return to our classrooms to share.

Strand Maths: Measurement

On Wednesdays Room 7 has been getting hands on exploring Measurement in the classroom.

We have been learning 
To understand and use the language of length

and

Use non-standard units to measure the length of everyday objects.

Here we are demonstrating great whiteboard work with our letters and words.

For Week 1 we have been enjoying our Poetry tasks. 

We identify a focus letter and demonstrate creativity with our borders.

Pippa demonstrated pride in her work with a border that relates to the poem.

Getting to know each other

Room 7 has 23 WONDERFUL Year 1 children ... ready to explore our class, our community and to develop ourselves as lifelong learners.
